Keeping our People Safe

Nothing is more important than keeping our people safe; that’s why Protect is one of our core values and we weave it into everything we do. We believe all injuries are preventable and that everyone deserves to get home safe every day. To support our Protect value and our safety mindset culture, we provide exceptional health and safety training for all of our teams. We also have a range of resources on offer to support wellbeing whenever you need them, and hold regular campaigns and initiatives to give you a boost and a reminder to put your wellbeing first. Examples of these initiatives include: ‘STEPtember’, Sleep Health awareness week, a Sun Safe campaign, financial wellbeing workshops, and many more.

Our Employee Benefits

An industry leading parental leave policy that includes 26 weeks fully paid leave for primary carers (or 50% of full pay for 52 weeks) and 4 weeks fully paid leave for secondary carers, with continued Kiwisaver contributions. We also ease the transition back to work with 80% hours at full pay for 6 months and provide new parents with an optional bespoke coaching programme.

Our people’s health, safety, and well-being are our number one priority which is why we offer an annual health check to all Clever Core employees. This includes testing hearing, lung function, vision screening, blood pressure, BMI, cholesterol, and blood glucose levels.

All Fletcher Building employees are eligible for a staff discount card or membership via the app – to be used at any PlaceMakers or Mico store in the country!

Clever Core employees have access to the Fletcher Building Employee Educational Fund (EEF), which is a private trust fund set up to help finance the cost of our employee’s career-related studies, and development programmes. It can also be used to assist with eligible employees’ dependent family members and their educational funding, including tuition, tertiary scholarships and other developmental opportunities like Spirit of Adventure.

Our employee welfare fund is available to help team members and their whanau in circumstances such as a death, permanent disability, or a financial hardship from an unexpected medical misfortune. We hope that none of our team will ever need to leverage this support, but for peace of mind, it’s available.

We want to make sure the work experience of our transgender or gender-diverse employees is as positive as possible, supporting them to be themselves. That’s why we offer 10 days of paid leave for people transitioning and a supportive environment to welcome people back into the workplace.

At Clever Core we are proud to acknowledge our employee loyalty and commitment by giving long-serving employees an award after completing each of 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 years of continuous current service with Fletcher Building.

A scheme that allows full or part-time permanent employees to purchase Fletcher Building shares, and based on specific circumstances, can be awarded shares at no additional cost on a 1:2 basis.
